When hair bows attack!

Lola got some mail. (Thanks Hardesters!) And since the package was bigger than she was I had to take a picture.
After the mail photo shoot, I put her in her bouncy seat and she looked so pretty, the photo shoot continued.
I'm sorry, but my baby is beautiful!
Once my picture taking urge was satisfied I walked away and went to the kitchen, probably to satisfy my chocolate chip urge, but I can't confirm this. While I was stuffing my face, or whatever I was doing in the kitchen, Lola let out a few cries and then quieted down. I didn't stop eating whatever I was eating to see what the problem was because we all know how hungry a nursing mother can get. I am REALLY hungry, ALL THE TIME. But actually, I was probably doing the dishes or scrubbing the floor on my hands and knees. When I was done, I wandered back into the living room and this is what I found:

So, of course, I got the camera back out.
But I eventually fixed it for her. And I thought she was grateful... until I scanned through these pictures later.
Check out that finger...

Two Babies, One Outfit

I have had this picture of Sam, my baby, the boy who lived, sitting in a frame on my wall or dresser since it was developed. (Yeah, we developed film nine years ago.) And whenever I would dream for, wish for, hope for, ache for, or picture another baby I would think of this outfit, which was packed away in a large plastic container up in the attic.
As the time to make preparations for Lola approached, I put it off for a long time into the pregnancy. A protection for our family just in case things went wrong, again. I didn't want a room set up and full of baby things until I was sure we would be bringing one home. Eventually though, Whitney (my SIL) came over and got the plastic containers down from the attic for me and I went through Sam's baby stuff and found the beloved outfit.
When I dressed little Lola, my baby, the girl who lived, in her brother's outfit for the first time my heart felt warm, grateful, and tears sprang to my eyes, as they still so easily do. And as the dream, wish, hope, ache, picture was filled, I couldn't help but wonder about those six lost pregnancies. I still felt sad about those. I wondered why it those miscarriages happened and what our family could be like had things not gone wrong... And now I realize that they didn't. Things didn't go wrong. Heavenly Father has a plan for his children, and this was His plan for our family. And only He knows what else is in store for us. So we will trust.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding"

Guess who?

Guess who went to church for the first time yesterday?

Guess who's getting chubby?
Guess who has Yellow Feathers In Her Hair...?

Guess who loves her brother?

Guess who LOVES her daddy?
Guess who slept THROUGH the night?
Guess who's FOOSHNICKEN HAPPY about that?
Guess who's cute as can be?

Pig Tails!

So, I was playing with my doll the other day and I thought, "Hey, this doll came with a lot of hair. We should try pig tails!"
My Lola doll likes to dress up. Here she is trying to look like a Troll doll and doing a mighty fine job of it.
Here she is with her brother trying to look like a rock star.
And once in a while she dresses up like she's happy.

Okay, okay. She's a happy doll more often than not. But you wouldn't know it from the pictures posted on this blog.
Here's my doll just lookin' cute.
And sleeping next to her twin.
My doll likes her bath most of the time. Right after this bath I brushed her hair for the first time. She really liked that. Then I got a great idea. A barrette... Which I dug into her head as I tried to snap it shut. Poor little trusting dolly didn't like that at all.
Stupid, cute barrette.
It totally matched her JLo outfit.
And sometimes my doll likes to dress up like an old man.
And she has dramatic poses. From this angle she reminds me of her dad.
From this angle she reminds me of her Grandpa Alger.
