Cross Counrty Skiing in Aspen Grove

Here we are. Bundled up, with our skis and boots all checked out. Ready to go.

Here we are 20 yards and 15 minutes later.
One second after I snapped this shot my feet flew out from under me and hit the ground like a ton of bricks.
Matt broke one of his poles on his fourth fall.
Mom, Matt, and I went back to the lodge to eat donuts.
Liz, Jason and the kids were brave enough to continue on for another hour.

This guy was eye-balling my donut and I didn't like that at all.

Everyone always says how great cross country skiing is....you've made it a lot more real.

Matt broke his pole? Hilarious.

I've wanted to try cross country skiing (afraid of downhill), but maybe I'll wait a while, work on squats or something so I can get good at getting back up after I fall....

Cross Country is great... if you have a flat place to practice and start out on. Aspen Grove is all hilly and stuff. Also, when everyone around you is falling and you have to stand around waiting for them to get up, it makes it a lot harder. No way to get in a groove or catch the feeling of balance. Then when you're just standing and waiting all of a sudden your feet slip out from under you and bam, you're on the ground. I want to give it another go in a different location.

How fun! Not the falling part but the skiing and donut eating part!

Nathan and I skiied at Aspen Grove once. It is hilly....I like nice flat smooth cross country skiing...I feel like that's what the name implies...just like downhill skiing implies there will be hills.

We have SUCH awesome memories of cross country skiing in West Yellowstone, don't we! That was the best!
