It started getting cold here in Utah. It is Fall, you know. It even snowed one day, but not enough to stick. It melted as it hit the ground. But it's been freezing at night. So we had a large tarp over our tomatoes. Then I decided to cut them all off keeping them on their vines. We're hoping to have some more red tomatoes.
Then last Saturday we cleaned out the garden. It looks so clean but so sad at the same time. I'm sad to see it go this year because we had such good success. I'm already itching to plant and thinking about next year.

I think you can ripen tomatoes by putting them in brown bags - something like that. Does that sound familiar?
I have heard that for avacados. So it probably would work for tomatoes.
Yes you can ripen tomatoes in a brown paper sack, but you need to put them with an apple and put them in a warm place.
Awesome Garden! Good luck for next year.
I have heard that you can layer them between newpaper and they will turn red. But, how about having us all over for fried green tomatoes?
i just ripen mine on the counter, guess i'm not as fancy.... but lay them flat.....
i'm inundated with them as well!!!
sorry, this is actually emily....
I have heard putting apples near tomatoes, to get the tomatoes to ripen. I could be wrong though.
That is so cool! What a great garden you had! It does look kinda sad and barren now. But, next year will roll around soon enough...right?
