Lost and Found

The other day I was searching everywhere for my kitchen washcloths. I had folded all the laundry and there was a good size stack of them in that batch of laundry. Then I had to go somewhere so Matt and Sam were left to put the laundry away and the washcloths went missing.
As I dug through the drawer they live in with the hand towels I had and idea that maybe they fell out the back of the drawer to the drawer below. So I checked the drawer below and they weren't there. Then I thought maybe they fell out the back of the drawer but landed into the nothingness behind the drawers. I wasn't sure if there even was a nothingness behind the drawers because I had never looked back there before. I pulled out the bottom two drawers and I found:

two wooden spoons
one white plastic serving spoon
three zip lock baggies
one small, white, paper bag
three hand towels that I forgot existed
one salad claw that I was digging around the drawer for about a week ago
one hot pad and one wash cloth, that don't belong to us
a long plastic straw that goes with a water bottle
a large peace of foil that had been folded up very neatly, but not by me
a blade for an electric knife, also not ours
a mason jar ring

All perfectly clean, not one speck of dust back there.
But the wash cloths I was looking for weren't there. I started nagging Matt and Sam about them and Matt finally found them above the washing machine in the cupboard with the rags. He says he probably put them with the rags because they are starting to look like rags. I told him he could go buy me some new ones anytime.
Go pull out your drawers and tell me what you find!

It Always Feels Like Somebody's Watching Me

One day in the shower I realized someone was watching me. I was shampooing my hair and when I opened my eyes I saw this:
Can you see him?

How about now? Can you see him? He has a beard.

This is the best shot. He's in the middle toward the left bottom corner.

He was tiny, smaller than my fingernail.

I think he's smoking a pipe...
I also have a habit of feeling watched while I sleep. Having had four sickness filled pregnancies in this house, I have spent a ton of time staring up at this ceiling.
Pac Man... he's upside down...

A Scottie dog, who is also upside down.

A graceful mouse diving into a pool... I suspect it ends in a belly flop.

And an eagle swooping in for the catch... again, upside down.
Do you see them too?

The Legend Lives On

Every so often, Grandma Alger issues a challenge to her grandchildren. When there is a play coming to town that Grandma wants to see or that she thinks they would like, she tells her grandchildren that if they read the book then she will buy them a ticket too.
Last Saturday Grandma Alger took her grandchildren (and me) to see The Legend of Sleepy Hollow at BYU. It was a one hour show in what is called a Theater-in-the-Round. This is where the audience sits on all sides of the stage. Also, on the stage they had taped off an X shaped walk way and then let the children sit in the triangles of the X. The play had a cast of four and only a stool shaped like a saddle for a set. Through out the show they pulled kids and other audience members out to be part of the show. They were windows, doors, towns folk, dancers, cows, etc. The kids loved it and were super willing to participate. The audience also helped with sound effects and one kid got pulled out of the audience before the show started and put into a ghost costume and he helped the cast pull kids out to help and also got to do what the rest of the cast did. He was part of the whole show. Sam was so jealous.

Then, early this week, Sam came home from school and said, "Remember that play we saw on Saturday? Well, they came to my school today, I told them I saw their show on Saturday, and then they chose me to be the ghost kid." He was super excited to tell me all about what he got to do and how he helped. He loved it. While I was at the school on Halloween for the costume parade Sam's teacher from last year told me what a great job he did in the play. She said he was "Hilarious" and "Brilliant." I wish I could have been there to take  pictures and watch him.

Then on Halloween night we were at the annual Truck or Treat at Grandma's ward, when the Headless Horseman himself made an appearance. I hollered for Sam but couldn't find him and hoped he would see. But I did manage to snap these babies as proof.
