Curtain Bag - Me through 6th grade

Oh, what a little darlin' I was.

Oh, and look at that beautiful long hair down to my hiney.

I do recall nap time in Kindergarten so that must be why my hair looks like I just woke up.

1st grade... My friend and her mom spent the whole afternoon the day before putting my hair in perm curlers. I was supposed to sleep in them but I think they lasted until 9pm and then I took them all out. Still, pretty curly.

I'm pretty sure I was still cute in 2nd grade but I can't find one for 2nd. Or, I may be mistaken for the others.

Yikes! I guess I thought I was moving to Florida with that shirt on. And who knew that the wings would come back in 2007,8, and 9... Only on boys. And I guess who ever cut my bangs was following my eye brows as a guide for the scissors. That may or may not have been me doing the cutting.

Ah, 4th grade, my best year. There are the Mary Lou Retton sweats. My friend Stacy had a matching set. And my hair was hacked off as it was for my sister's too. I remember going on vacation to Oregon with this cut. While at McDonald's the dude asked my dad, "What for the little fellows?" My dad got mad and said, "They're GIRLS."

Yes, I cut this picture out with pinking shears... It seemed like a good idea at the time. Don't tell my mom though, those shears were only for cutting fabric, NOT paper!

HOLY HAIR! I'm pretty sure we didn't have nap time in 5th grade despite what my hair is saying in this picture. But I loved that shirt. My aunt Jan bought it for me when we got to go to her house after they came to ours for Christmas. Good times for us... Probably not for Aunt Jan.

6th grade, when I was going for the Cocker Spaniel look, and pulling off, if I do say so myself.
I can't help but notice that in the pictures from 3rd through 6th there is a large freckle on the left (your right) side of my nose. I just looked in the mirror. No freckle, but there is something there. Mild discoloration, maybe... I thinking that if I ever get skin cancer that will be the spot.

I must be fragile if...

a cartoon can bring me to huge tears and little sobs.

And Sam's not even a grumpy and distant teen yet.

Cross Counrty Skiing in Aspen Grove

Here we are. Bundled up, with our skis and boots all checked out. Ready to go.

Here we are 20 yards and 15 minutes later.
One second after I snapped this shot my feet flew out from under me and hit the ground like a ton of bricks.
Matt broke one of his poles on his fourth fall.
Mom, Matt, and I went back to the lodge to eat donuts.
Liz, Jason and the kids were brave enough to continue on for another hour.

This guy was eye-balling my donut and I didn't like that at all.

Snowmobiling in Big Sky Country - A Photo Essay

But first a stop in Rexburg, ID to see my Cuz and her beautiful babers.

A very excited boy.

Another very excited boy.

Sam looks so ready to go in this one.

From the front: Bruce and Austin, Noelle, Mary and Ben, Andrea, Sandy and Allynn. Not pictured: Julie and Sam, Matt, Liz and Kelsey, Jason and Sydney, Ed and Camille.

You may need to click and enlarge to see the trout-zilla family.

Muskrat love.

Big Springs

Does it look like these three crashed? Nope. Matt, who's sled is to the far left, got into a sticky situation. This is a fairly steep slope, though you can't tell from the picture. Matt started to tip and feared he would be pinned between the tree and the sled. Jason, who's sled is in the middle, went up to help and give tips but ended up rolling his sled. He rolled off and part way down the hill before it rolled on him. You can see his "tracks" below his sled. Then, Ed went up to help them turn Jason's sled back over and his sled tipped. He ended up pinned under by the leg. Matt and Jason helped him out, then they got both sleds upright and coached Matt out of his situation. All made it safely down the slope.

The Johnson's on top of the world.

The two people who made it happen.

Looking back at the Two Top area we were on moments before.

What a blast!

Thanks Mom and Dad!

The Green Cargo Pants

Sam has a green pair of cargo pants that he insists on wearing, even though they are atrociously ugly. Not only are the back, bottom part of the legs all chewed up because he walks on them, but now there is a huge hole in the right knee.
The other day after school he was acting like a total toughie, sitting in a chair in my room. And he was talking like Nacho Libre. We were having our daily argument about homework and I think he was trying to spice it up with the accent. He shifted his weight and I heard the knee hole rip bigger.
I looked at him and said, "Those are going in the garbage."
He said, " No, they are not", in his Nacho voice.
"Why do you want to wear such ugly pants?"
(Picture Nacho when he says,"They think I don't know crap about the gospel... But I do.")
Sam said, "Because, they make me feel like I was in a fight... and I won."

The pants went through the laundry and I cut them into shorts and put them away for summer. I'm sure they won't hold the same charm for him.

ANSWER - a photo essay

She had her apron on when I picked her up from preschool... I can take a hint.

The "homework boy" was aloud a break for some rolling and cutting.

Making the cookies was almost as fun as eating them.
